The lure of a “tall ship and a star to steer her by” is expected to attract boat owners from across the globe to fly into Fort Lauderdale International Airport (FLL) where Sheltair will be welcoming those visiting the world famous Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) being held November 5th through the 9th.
Frank Seymour, Sheltair’s Senior Vice President stated, “Sheltair has proudly served as the boat show’s preferred choice of FBO’s for over 25 years, providing jet setting boat owners with the means of easily getting from planeside to portside quickly and efficiently. This year we expect to make active use of our red carpet once again as scores of general aviation aircraft arrive with passengers ready to inspect and purchase the latest vessels afloat.”
As the largest event of its kind in the world, FLIBS annually draws an international crowd of about 100,000 attendees to the Fort Lauderdale area, many who arrive via private aircraft to shop for superyachts, boats, exotic cars and other luxury items.
“The economic synergies among the recreational boating industry, the general aviation community and the destination industry of South Florida are self-evident to Sheltair. We believe we have an integral role to play in strengthening all three through service, attention to detail, efficiencies that are passed on to the aircraft owner/operator and genuine hospitality,” stated Mr. Seymour.
Part of Sheltair’s corporate mission statement is to provide aviation support services, construction and facilities management at such a level that it creates additional jobs inside and beyond the airport it is located within. “If we are doing our job right we are an economic generator, encouraging investment and job growth by welcoming the corporations and individuals who are sizing up a market the moment they step off their aircraft,” continued Seymour. “Whether it is for a boat show or a contract closing, the attention to service needs to be world class when an aircraft is chocked and a passenger disembarks.”
An exclusive reception.
This year Sheltair will host an exclusive boat show party on November 4th at Fort Lauderdale entitled WingsWheelsWater2015 to launch the show and kick off the South Florida winter season. The event not only brings together show goers and the local community for a gala evening of food and fun but also serves to raise funds for Angel Flight Southeast where pilots provide their aircraft and time free of charge to assist patients in travel to medical facilities they would otherwise not have access to.
The gala event takes place at a time when Sheltair is continuing to expand their hangar complex at Sheltair FLL Westside. The company is currently preparing the site for eight executive hangars totaling almost 150,000 square feet of space with capabilities up to a Global 7000. Sheltair anticipates completion by the fourth quarter of 2016 with custom options available.
Mr. Seymour concluded, “We are proud and honored to host this gala as it not only celebrates this wonderful Fort Lauderdale tradition but raises dollars for a very worthy cause.”
Current gala event sponsors include Dassault Falcon Jet Corp, Private and Pre-Owned Jets, Pilatus Aircraft Ltd., Embraer Executive Jets and the Embraer Legacy 500, Cessna, SunTrust Bank, Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale, Maserati of Fort Lauderdale, Van Dutch, HMY Yachts, Avfuel, the Fur Salon of Saks Fifth Avenue, Bacardi U.S.A., Penfolds Wines, Whitehaus Media Group and Venice Magazine.
