Sheltair, among the nation’s leading providers of aviation support services, will be leading the “5K run ‘round the airport” at Pompano Beach Air Park on Saturday May 7, 2016 when the airport opens its taxiways and runways to running enthusiasts raising dollars for Angel FlightTM Southeast, the not-for-profit organization that arranges free private air transportation for medical patients who cannot afford commercial flights for much needed treatment.
“We are proud to sponsor this event as it allows the enormous power of general aviation to be harnessed on behalf of countless families who would be denied access to medical treatment were it not for Angel FlightTM Southeast ,” stated Sheltair’s Karen Kroeppel, Director of Sales and Marketing.
“We are inviting runners, joggers and those who simply want a brisk 3.1 mile walk in a fascinating aviation environment to join us on Saturday morning, May 7th beginning promptly at 7:30 a.m. Departing from our terminal at 1401 NE 10th Street, Pompano, participants will get a firsthand view of what pilots see as they navigate the airport. Their route will take them in and around hangars, taxiways, and runways where they will see up close views of many types of aircraft, including the flight line of featured performers in this year’s Fort Lauderdale Air Show.”
After crossing the finish line, there will be entertainment that includes music, vendor/sponsor booths and refreshments. Registration is limited to 300 runners with all proceeds from the event benefiting Angel FlightTM Southeast and their mission to arrange free flights so that children and adults can have access to specialists far from home.
Angel Flight™ Southeast is an organization of more than 650 volunteer pilots who use their own aircraft, fuel and time to provide free air transportation to medical facilities for individuals who are financially distressed or otherwise unable to travel on public transportation.
